BIO

As the metadata librarian of the Department of Resource Acquisition & Management (RAM), I perform original and complex copy cataloging of library resources in various formats and disciplines in English and other languages. This work makes library collections visible and discoverable to users around the world. I establish collaboration with other library departments, including Digital Programs & Services, Special Collections & University Archives. For example, I initiated and led the SCUA/RAM Working Group. This empowers the RAM staff to catalog rare book collections and many other rare materials to make them available for users. I also lead the Metadata Working Group, which includes librarians from the three departments, to establish and maintain the UIC Non-MARC Metadata Best Practice Guidelines for digital collections. In my supervisor role, I lead the RAM metadata unit. This unit is responsible for all original cataloging and complex copy cataloging, as well as non-MARC metadata work and various database maintenance efforts. I oversee this unit and supervise three full-time staff.
